You want your work to stand out on the page and connect with your readers. How can different types of editing help? Read on to find the service that works best for you, then contact me to set up an initial conversation.
Editing
When I edit, I closely read your project and make recommendations for changes that will help increase its credibility and strengthen your connection with readers.
You will receive a copy of your material with suggested edits and comments. I can comment on the project as a whole and provide feedback on storytelling, transitions, and flow to provide your readers with the best experience possible. Also, I may suggest changes in sentence construction, punctuation, word choice, and spelling. Before I begin, we will agree on the level of editing needed to meet your goals.
Editing rates are calculated hourly. I will evaluate your project and give you a quote based on how long I expect it will take to edit. Quotes are for one round of editing and will be honored. You pay what I estimate.
Contact me to schedule a free 30-minute conversation about your editing needs.
Proofreading
Is your project already edited and ready to go? Have you looked at it too many times to be sure? My proofreading service includes a final read through for spelling, grammar, and punctuation, so nothing will stop your readers from appreciating your work.
Proofreading rates are calculated by the word. You will receive a quote based on your project’s original word count and the agreed upon rate before I start.

Writing & Other Services
Rewriting — Based on an initial conversation and your original work, I will rewrite your project according to principles for storytelling, flow, and readability. In our initial conversation, we will agree upon goals, audience, and the principles I will follow to make sure the final piece meets your standards.
“Gut Check” — Are you worried something is horribly wrong with what you’re drafting? Is the premise too confusing? The tone inconsistent? Will it offend? I’ll read it over and let you know what I see. We’ll talk about your concerns first and whether I’m the right person to assess them.
Ghost Writing — I will consider drafting original content for clients whose subject matter expertise overlaps with my own. Please read the About Me section for more about my background to assess if your project might be a good fit, and then contact me for more information.
PROCESS & Principles
We will have an initial conversation to establish the goals and audience for your project, including any cultural sensitivities or vocabulary I should be familiar with. These conversations can be held by phone or email. Projects won’t proceed until you feel comfortable putting your work in my hands.
The timeline for a project is dependent on its length. I will include a delivery date with my quote. If you need a job rushed, contact me to confirm the rate and deadline.
If your work needs to follow a particular style guide, specify it in your project description or send me your house standards. Examples of styles include the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) and Modern Language Association (MLA). Some fields tend to conform to a particular style, e.g., literature and CMOS; however, you do not need to choose a style to have your work edited.
I will not accept projects that intentionally spread hate, oppression, or misinformation.
In all editing projects, I will aim to mark text that may be unintentionally problematic for your consideration. Note that I may not detect all instances of these issues and you are ultimately responsible for what you write and publish.
