Krysia Wazny McClain, Editor

I am a trained editor who specializes in projects that advance social and cultural progress.

I have a Master of Arts in the Social Sciences from the University of Chicago. While there, I completed coursework that prepared me to edit complex material for general readers. After grad school, I completed a training internship at Agate Publishing, where I edited books according to the Chicago Manual of Style.

Then, for several years, I worked in nonprofit communications, at a graduate school of theology and a climate advocacy organization. I regularly edited reports, white papers, testimony, newsletters, and websites for many different audiences, across style guides. I bring my communications experience into editing by helping writers identify their audiences and put them first.

In addition, I am a poet and writer, with experience workshopping and editing my peers in and out of classrooms. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Slavic Studies from Boston College and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing and Literature, with a focus in Poetry, from Bennington College.

Finally, I am a volunteer organizer who focuses on imagining more just communities. My organizing home is Showing Up for Racial Justice–Boston.

I am a member and past chapter coordinator of the Editorial Freelancers Association and a member of ACES: The Society for Editing. I live and work in Somerville, Massachusetts.
